From Oct, 2 until Oct,14th I worked from the
island of "San Miguel de La Palma" (IOTA AF-004) operating SSB and CW on 10-80m.
My QTH was in a little village called "Las Manchas de Abajo" on the western side of the island.
Propagation to the US and South America was outstanding but it was very
difficult to reach Europe and Asia because of high
mountains in the center of the island rising up to 8000ft (2400m).
My equipment was:
ICOM IC 706 MK II, 100W Output
Antenna is a l/3 dipole inverted-V, 88ft (27m) long, approx. 26ft (8m) high, feedline is 450 ohms window line
Antenna tuner MFJ-901B
Here are some photos from my holiday DXpedition.
QSL will be via bureau to my home call DH5JG.
If you prefer to send
direct, please include sufficient postage (see bottom of page).
I also visited local hams of the "Unión de Radioaficionados Aridane" who gave me a nice welcome. If you ever go to La Palma be sure to visit them.
